Privacy Policy — Reproducible by Design

This Privacy Policy explains how Reproducible by Design (“we”, “us”) collects and processes personal data when you visit https://www.reproducible-science.com/ (the “Site”) and when you subscribe to our newsletter or become a member.

When you browse the Site, our systems may process technical data (e.g., IP address, device/browser information, timestamps, requested URLs) for security and reliability purposes.

c) Cookies

We use essential cookies and similar technologies necessary for core Site functionality (e.g., session/authentication for members).
We do not use non-essential tracking cookies unless explicitly stated in this policy.

We process personal data for the following purposes:

  1. To provide the Site and membership features (e.g., login links, account management)
Legal basis: legitimate interests (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) and/or performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) where applicable.

  2. To send newsletters and publication updates (only if you subscribe)
Legal basis: consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing.

  3. Security, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting
Legal basis: legitimate interests (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

4) Email analytics (opens/clicks)

We aim to minimize tracking.

  • If newsletter open/click tracking is enabled, email newsletters may include mechanisms to measure opens/clicks.
  • If tracking is disabled, we do not measure newsletter opens/clicks via Ghost’s built-in analytics.

(See “Your choices” below.)

5) Processors and service providers

We use Ghost as our publishing platform and membership/newsletter system. Ghost acts as a processor for subscriber/member data.

Depending on configuration, Ghost and its sub-processors may process data on infrastructure in various regions.

5b) Who can access your data and whether we share it

We do not sell your personal data.

Access to subscriber/member data is limited to:

  • the publication owner/administrator(s) who need it to operate the Site and newsletter, and
  • our service providers (processors) who host or deliver the Site/newsletters (see “Processors and service providers”).

We may share personal data if required to comply with legal obligations or to protect our rights and the security of the Site.

6) Data retention

  • Newsletter/membership data: retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion, subject to legal or operational retention needs (e.g., maintaining suppression records to respect opt-outs).
  • Technical logs: retained for a limited period for security and reliability.

6b) How we protect your personal data

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data, including:

  • hosting and infrastructure security controls provided by our platform provider(s),
  • access controls for administrative accounts (e.g., strong passwords, least-privilege access),
  • TLS/HTTPS encryption in transit,
  • limiting data collection to what is necessary.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we aim to reduce risk and respond to issues promptly.

7) Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the EEA/UK (and in other jurisdictions with similar rights), you may have the right to:

  • access your data, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

To exercise your rights, email: hello@reproducible-science.com.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
